Research Areas

CMEST supports research associated with:
  • Indoor human comfort
  • Indoor air quality
  • Indoor environmental modeling
  • Ventilation and air distribution
  • Sound and vibration related to HVAC
  • Sound and vibration related to mechanical systems and system components
  • Human exposure to sound and vibration
  • Hand-arm vibration
  • Hand tool vibration modeling
  • Manufacturing

This research includes:
  • Laboratory testing and experimental analyses
  • Modeling and design studies
  • Experimental modal anaysis
  • finite element and finite difference analyses
CMEST is one of the very few non-proprietary laboratories, and perhaps the only university laboratory, in the U.S. that has the ability to conduct tests, analyses and computer simulations associated with the performance, acoustic, and vibration characteristics of a wide range of system components associated with indoor ventilation and air distribution systems in a single facility.
